Lifedynamic team

Lifedynamic, based at The Ridgeway Hospital, has a team including physiotherapists, personal trainers, nurses, radiographers, nutritional therapists, psychiatrists and consultants who are all dedicated to providing the best patient care and who want to ensure that as wide a group of patients as possible can benefit from the facilities and experience we have to offer. Expert care is available within days so that you get the treatment you need with minimum interruption to your busy life.

Whilst you can be referred or self-refer to Lifedynamic as an outpatient you still have the benefits of a centre linked to an acute care hospital - integrated individual care programmes can be supported by acute hospital services, such as x-ray, MRI, CT and access to Consultants.

The team

Physiotherapists  
 
Julie Irlam – is the Physiotherapy Manager. Julie has worked at The Ridgeway Hospital for 8 years.  Julie is a member of the acupuncture association of physiotherapists, and has a special interest in the treatment of shoulder problems. 
  Julie’s team of Physiotherapists have a full range of physiotherapy skills to provide specialist treatment for orthopaedic, surgical and medical inpatients and outpatients. They can also provide treatment for rehabilitation following surgery or trauma and can use performance analysis to return people to full activity and to educate people for injury prevention. Some physiotherapists specialise in treatment for neurology, sports injuries and women’s health issues.
The lifedynamic team of physiotherapists are skilled in using remedial exercise therapy, manual therapy and massage therapy as well as hydrotherapy, acupuncture, manual techniques and exercise, including Pilates.

Physiotherapy Assistants  
 
Our team of senior physiotherapy assistants are involved in the supervision of exercises and mobility of patients attending the centre as an inpatient and outpatient. They supervise pool and gym rehabilitation sessions and carry out testing on the isokinetics machine. They also coordinate orthopaedic preoperative assessments, giving advice for the postoperative period. 
 
The physiotherapy assistants support the physiotherapists during hydrotherapy sessions.
Receptionist  
 
The receptionist books appointments for patients, answers telephone enquiries and manages the reception desk. 
Personal trainer  
 
Vince Sejournant. Vince has worked as a personal trainer for 13 years. His clientele have included people wanting general weight loss and fitness in all age groups, people with sports injuries, and body builders. Vince is also qualified in sports massage and offers this service at Lifedynamic.
Sports Physician  
 
Sports Physician Dr Paul D Jackson FFSEM (UK) FFSEM (Ire) MBBS DipSportsMed. Dr Jackson has worked in Sports Medicine for over 17 years and is the lead Sports Physician for the English Institute of Sport (EIS) at the University of Bath. The EIS clinic provides medical care for elite sports athletes of a high enough standard to attract lottery funding and covers all of the Olympic and most of the major non-Olympic sports (www.eis2win.co.uk)
 
Dr Jackson is currently the Team Doctor to the GB Olympic Modern Pentathlon Team and was previously team    doctor for the England 7-a-side and England A Rugby teams for 9 years. He is the doctor to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Junior Academy at Bath University and has worked with elite professional tennis players on the WTA Women’s Tour. He has also worked with the Olympic Bobsleigh Team and with the PGA European Tour    Golf. He has recently been in Australia as doctor to the England Cricket Team during the Ashes test matches.
 
Dr Jackson has particular interest in soft tissue and joint injuries that have failed to resolve within the expected      timescale and in recurrent injuries with particular focus on investigating and correcting the underlying causes. He   is a member of the editorial board of the Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine and Clinical Examiner for the University of Bath MSc for doctors in Sports Medicine.
 
He is also been a member of the British Association of Sport & Exercise for Medicine for 20 years and is a      member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Psychiatrists  
 
Professor Gordon Turnbull Sc MB ChB FRCP FRCPsych Specialising in Trauma, Liaison psychiatry, General psychiatry, Aviation psychiatry and Medico-legal.
 
Ms Barbara Martino Specialist Psychotherapist Specialising in Acute Anxiety States, Chronic PTSD, OCD, Phobias and Panic Attacks. Also treats depression, bereavement, life transitions and all aspects of trauma. www.bamartino-synergy.com
Nutritional Therapist  

Tamzin Previté trained at the Centre for Nutrition Education in Wokingham gaining a first class honours degree in Nutritional Therapy in 2006.
As a member of the British Association for Nutritional Therapy she is bound by their Code of Ethics and Practice. In recognition of the importance of protecting client data Tamzin is registered under the Data Protection Act. She continually updates her nutritional knowledge at regular training events and seminars. 

Beautician  
 
Fran Jefferies. Fran is a fully qualified beauty therapist with over fifteen years experience. She is committed to offering an extensive range of beauty treatments in a warm and relaxing environment. Fran specialises in a beauty treatments for the face and body, ranging from Dermalift Mini Face Lift to Nail Care and Waxing for male and female clients.
Health Screening Sister  
 
Helen Nicols. Helen has been nursing for over 30 years and worked in Midwifery and Family Planning, Women’s Health, Surgery, General Practice, Community Nursing and Occupational health for the Offshore Industry. Helen has been carrying out Health Screening at The Ridgeway Hospital for 10 years.
